Unlike related types of sugar, such as B. the more well-known glucose, D-mannose is not metabolized in the organism, but reaches the kidneys directly via the bloodstream and from there unused into the bladder, where it is discharged again.

Real birch mannose has a sweetish and bitter taste at the same time. The sweetness is caused by the α-form, the bitterness by the β-form of natural sugar. When buying D-Mannose, you should therefore always pay attention to both taste components.
